Tyrian Southerwind thought his eighteenth birthday would be unremarkable: take on more duties as the son of the High General, meet with an emissary, and ignore his brother's teasing over the cluster of interested females stalking the now-legal combatant. Instead, he finds his entire world turned upside down as the beautiful emissary brings him news of the tyranny consuming the land--and stirs his heart in more ways than one. When his brother's death leads him to revisit their childhood home, and he sees the trouble firsthand, the High General's son does the only thing he can to save the people: he joins a rebellion.

Unknown to Tyrian and the ones around him, however, is the great destiny laid before him. Long before he had been born, it had been foretold of a hero called a Kaiten Star that would be blessed by the stars and save his land. As Tyrian gathers those destined to share the skies with him, and struggles to fight back against the evil infesting the Empire, he finds his ability to endure pushed to the limit. Only the support of his Kentei Star—his destined lover—keeps him from shattering apart entirely.

Gifted with a great power, burdened by eternity, and beholden to Destiny, can Tyrian rise up to become the hero of ancient stories before he loses everyone and everything he holds dear?

Rihou Royaltine expected his eighteenth birthday to be somewhat unremarkable. Enjoy a traveling circus' entertainments, and then head off to join the Foresalia Army and follow in his late father's footsteps. Things don't quite go to plan as first a dancing bard captivates his heart, and then training at the Army's camp ends in massacre—a betrayal from within the Army itself. When Rihou wakes up from his escape, he's in another country, war is brewing, and his entire world has been torn apart. Lucky for him that he was rescued by Ewan Grizmar, a veteran of the war within the Republic of Taron. Unlucky for Ewan, one look into Rihou's eyes tells the swordsman things he didn't want to know: the eternally cheerful combatant is another Kaiten Star.

Madness brews and boils inside the Foresalia Kingdom and threatens to consume it and the City-States of Arinsberg alike. Only a hero like a Kaiten Star has the ability to unify the two lands, heal the wounds wrought by evil, and put an end to an unwanted war. Rihou will have to walk a path walked before, but he won't be alone. Destined Stars old and new will gather at his side, and his Kentei Star will hold him together even when his iron will threatens to break.

Gifted with a great power, burdened by eternity, and beholden to Destiny, can Rihou rise up to become a hero of legend before blood floods the land and consumes all that lives?

Kiala Draconis never expected her life to be normal; how could it be when she was the daughter of a hero? From her very birth, though, the farm girl showed signs that perhaps she might be more than just a hero's daughter. That perhaps a star shined on her shoulders in a way it had not shone for twenty years. When her eighteenth birthday arrives with fire and death and forces her and her family to flee for their lives, there can be no denying the truth: the temperamental Thaumoturge is the final Kaiten Star.

For a million years, Oriku has suffered the Era of Punishment and endured war and evil trying to suffocate the land. The last of all evil, the worst of its kind, now festers in the icy castle of Melodina and threatens to spill across the Moors as well. Kiala will have to become a hero to save not just the two war-torn lands, but the entire world as well. Even with her Destined Stars to support her, even with her beloved Kentei Star to hold her together as he has held her since their childhood, even knowing what path she may walk by looking at the paths walked before—it might not be enough to help her survive as it soon becomes clear that she may be far, far more than anyone expects.

Gifted with a great power, burdened by eternity, and beholden to Destiny, can Kiala rise up to become the prophesized hero to end the Era of Punishment before she is torn apart by her own magical gifts?
